More than 50 new Excelior Information and Communication Technology (ICT) trainees commenced their training in Canberra in March 2008.

The trainees were recruited by Excelior to undertake a two-year Certificate IV in Information Technology (General).  Excelior is responsible for managing the ICT apprentices who will receive the academic component of their program at the Canberra Institute of Technology (CIT).

The trainees study at CIT one day each week and work in various Federal Government agencies for the remainder of the week to develop their workplace skills and experience.

“The traineeship is a comprehensive program that will provide graduates with a
nationally recognised qualification, while they gain valuable on the job experience,” said Greg Scott, Chief Executive Officer, Excelior.

“Excelior is currently in discussion with the Australian Public Service to explore whether this program could be expanded to other states to help meet the Government’s demand for workers with ICT skills,” said Mr Scott.

Excelior is a registered Group Training Organisation that provides trainee and apprenticeship management programs for Government and private sector clients. The company manages the entire employment process including selection, employment, training, and performance management.

Currently, Excelior has approximately 400 trainees placed within numerous Government departments and telecommunications companies across every Australian state and territory. The trainees are undertaking ICT apprenticeships and telecommunications, technical and customer contact traineeships.
